On Sunday August 30th 2009 the River Tyne turned yellow when several thousand plastic ducks will be dropped from a boat up stream from the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and raced down river all for Metro Radio’s/Magic 1152’s charity Cash For Kids.

The race finished just downstream from the Gateshead Millennium Bridge so duck owners and spectators were able to watch all the race action.

All the profits from the event went to Cash For Kids to help disabled and disadvantaged children right here in the North East.

Guest of honour at the race was EastEnders star June Brown MBE who plays Dot Cotton.  She had a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting her fans in Newcastle.  June was more than happy to launch the duck race in adi of Cash for Kids.
